Hobbiton Movie Set Tours

See the real Middle-earth, no queues or guesswork. We sort the tour, you just show up and enjoy it.

Hobbiton Tours

Tucked into the rolling farmland of the Waikato, Hobbiton is one of those rare places that looks exactly like it did on screen — because it is.

We organise your Hobbiton Movie Set tour as part of your Kia Ora Campers adventure, so it's one less thing to book, plan, or stress about.

This isn’t a replica or a theme park build — it’s the actual location used for both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. The set was meant to be temporary, but the level of detail (and the view) convinced everyone to keep it standing. Your guide will point out details you’d never spot on your own: which doors were built to scale for the actors, which garden veges are real, and how the same paddock became a completely different world on screen.

You don’t need to have seen the films to enjoy it — plenty of our guests haven’t and still leave saying it was a trip highlight. But if you grew up on Tolkien, it’s the closest you’ll get to walking into the book.

How It Fits Your Road Trip

Easy To Add To Your Route

Hobbiton sits right in the middle of the North Island, making it a natural stop whether you’re heading between Auckland and Rotorua, or looping through Taupō and the Coromandel. Because you’re already travelling in a self-contained camper, there’s no need to double back to a hotel — just park up nearby, do the tour, and carry on to your next stop.

Let us know when you’re booking your campervan and we’ll build the Hobbiton tour straight into your itinerary, timed around your route.
